Sometimes love happens instantly. And sometimes…it’s right there in front of you, but it takes a little while to realize it. This was the case with Matt and Heather. After knowing each other for many years through Matts sister, an attraction started to build. Secretly. On both sides. Blame it on the red wine, but after a birthday party for Matts niece, Heather finally got the courage to spill what she had been holding in for years. Without hesitation, Matt eased her nerves by informing her that he felt the same way. A casual first date in Port Jefferson, NY confirmed that their feelings were real, and there was no going back. Their relationship was on the fast track from that point on, but after spending years together as friends, they knew this was forever.
Matt and Heathers wedding was every bit as perfect as their relationship. The complete DIY wedding, right down to running out the morning of to grab flowers to turn into bouquets in the bridal suite. Every detail was thought of, and put together by the bride and groom (with the help of their eager and willing friends). The George Wier Barn in Lloyd Harbor, NY creates a casual rustic barn theme that was pulled together with cowboy boots, mason jars and suspenders. Some guests enjoyed the yard games set up outside, while others took in the views surrounding the barn. One thing was for sure though, the dance floor was never empty, and everyone was smiling ear to ear. In a sense, their wedding summed up the way they live their lives. Laid back, filled with love… lots of dancing…and laughter.
